We now have proof the NDIS is actually a $52b-a-year boon to the Australian economy and the Coalition’s cuts are a massive Aussie job-killer.

The Morrison Government has put out 10 conflicting sets of numbers this year alone to justify its cuts to the NDIS.

The new report from peak body National Disability Services shows that for every $1 billion in funding cut from the scheme, more than 10,000 jobs are lost.

The report also shows that there is a benefit to our economy of $2.25 for every $1 spent on goods and services through the scheme.

This is a phenomenal investment that the Morrison Government has chosen to ignore in order to cut funding to NDIS participants.

The benefits include providing life-changing supports for the 467,000 Australians on the scheme, but also employment and income to 270,000 workers.

Minister Linda Reynolds must now release all the financial modelling the Government is hiding behind to cut the scheme.

The Morrison Government must also commit to lifting the staffing caps at the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) where chronic permanent staff shortages are damaging the lives of people living with disabilities. 

The new data from peak body National Disability Services is welcomed and proves the NDIS is a scheme that truly benefits all Australians.

The Morrison Government has dedicated tens of millions of dollars to tearing shreds off this world-leading scheme instead of investing in it.
