The Abbott Government’s revised 18-month NBN plan had again neglected the local community, Opposition Leader and Member for Maribyrnong Bill Shorten said today.
Bill Shorten said that the recently released rollout plan had excluded the entire Maribyrnong electorate.
“Before the election, Tony Abbott promised that every Australian would have access to the NBN by 2016,” he said.
“With the most recent rollout plan entirely ignoring our community, it’s clear that this is just another broken promise from the Abbott Government.”
Bill Shorten said that local suburbs which had previously been included in the former Labor Government’s rollout schedule were still not in the Abbott Government’s plan.
“Local residents still don’t know when they can expect the NBN,” Bill Shorten said.
“Not only has the Abbott Government’s NBN completely bypassed our community, local residents still don’t even know if they can expect fibre to the home,” he said.
