Alannah MacTiernan has been a extraordinary champion for Western Australia and has made an incredible contribution to the Australian Labor Party throughout her career in public life – at local, state and federal levels. 

Anyone who’s met Alannah knows that when Alannah talks, people listen. 

Alannah has been the fiercest possible advocate for Western Australia and has never taken a backward step in fighting for something better for the state.

She is never afraid to ruffle a few feathers in the interests of what’s right.

Alannah once said that being a member of parliament “is really a way of life. To be done properly this task needs to be viewed almost as a sacred duty.” 

And from that sacred duty Alannah has never faulted. 

Alannah will be missed by her colleagues and opponents alike, she retires from federal politics having proudly put the people of Perth first on each and every occasion.

We wish Alannah and her husband Derek all the best for the next chapter in life, and we know she will enjoy more time with her loving children and grandchildren.
