Community consultation on the Maribyrnong defence site will be held in early 2015, Opposition Leader and Member for Maribyrnong Bill Shorten said today.

 

Bill Shorten secured the commitment on behalf of local residents after raising the issue with Federal Defence Minister.

 

"The last community consultation was held over a year ago, under the former Labor Government,” he said.

 

Bill Shorten said that it was integral that local residents know how work on the site was progressing.

 

"Residents in neighbouring areas need to know what is happening and when," he said.

 

"I trust that this community consultation will give the local residents the answers they deserve.”
