A Shorten Labor Government will secure the sustainability of the Father Bob Maguire Foundation over the next four years with a $200,000 funding boost.
This will also support the expansion of Father Bob’s vital services into Stonnington and Glen Eira.
The funding boost to the Foundation forms part of Labor’s $40 million commitment to increase funding for emergency relief services who supporting people in financial crisis.
Relief organisations support those who are doing it tough by providing immediate financial assistance or basic resources.
For almost two decades, the Melbourne-based organisation has provided fresh and nutritious meals as well as a community pantry program for families and individuals in need.
In 2017, the Foundation delivered more than 13,000 sit down meals, 8,500 take away meals and distributed more than 7,400 hampers of fresh fruit, vegetables and other essential items.
It also runs an education program which supports young people in secondary education with scholarships, mentoring, and a tuition program.
The electorate of MacNamara is home to a diverse community, and the Father Bob Maguire Foundation is emblematic of how local residents come together to provide a helping hand to those in need.
