Labor condemns the decision of an Egyptian court to sentence three Al Jazeera journalists to at least three years jail for doing their job.
As we have done in the past, we stand with Peter Greste and his colleagues, Mohammed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed, against this unjust sentence.
Journalism is not a crime. Journalists shouldn’t be put on trial or locked up for doing their job anywhere in the world.
An injustice like this touches all of us that enjoy the freedom to say this is not right.
Our thoughts are with Mr Greste, Mr Fahmy, Mr Mohamed, their families, and all journalists in jail around the world.
