This NAIDOC week, Labor acknowledges and celebrates the essential role that First Nation’s women have played - and continue to play in our Nation.
First Nations Women play a critical and active role at a local, regional, national and international level. Labor is committed to listening to their voices. We know that where their voices are heard, solutions lie.
Labor is particularly proud to have the Hon. Linda Burney MP, Wiradjuri woman from Whitton NSW and Senator Malarndirri McCarthy, a Yanyuwa Garawa woman from Borroloola in the Northern Territory in our Labor team.
Across the country, many First Nations women stand as elected Labor representatives:
- Selena Uibo, Member for Arnhem NT
- Ngaree Ah Kit, Member for Karama NT
- Leeanne Enoch, Member for Algester QLD
- Cynthia Lui QLD, Member for Cook QLD
- Josie Farrer, Member for the Kimberley WA
We thank them for their leadership.
NAICOC Week runs from 8 to 15 July. You can out more about events in your community by visiting: https://www.naidoc.org.au/
