Labor welcomes the report overnight from the independent Joint Investigation Team (JIT) into the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17.

This was a tragic and criminal act which claimed the lives of 298 innocent people, including 38 Australians.

The report provides the strongest evidence to date of Russian involvement in the missile attack.

It’s time for Russia to abandon its obstructionist approach and fully co-operate with international efforts to find justice for those killed in this senseless and criminal act.

We owe it to victims and their families to do everything possible to ensure those responsible for the downing of MH17 are identified and brought to trial.
