A Shorten Labor Government will deliver bigger, better and fairer tax cuts for 10 million working Australians.

Labor’s Tax Refund for Working Australians increases the tax cuts currently being offered under the Government’s tax offset proposal.

Labor will support the Government measures that begin on 1 July this year, and a Shorten Labor Government will deliver bigger tax cuts from 1 July 2019 – and they will be permanent. 

With Labor, working and middle class Australians will pay less tax – because a tax cut for families is more important than an $80 billion tax giveaway to big business and the banks.

Everyone earning less than $125,000 a year will receive a bigger tax cut under Labor compared to the Liberals. More than four million people will be better off by $398 a year compared to the Liberals.

With Labor’s tax refund:

• A teacher on $65,000 will receive a tax cut of $928 a year.
• A couple earning $90,000 and $50,000 respectively will receive a tax cut of $1,855 a year.

The difference between Labor and the Liberal-Nationals could not be starker.

Turnbull and his out-of-touch Liberals will give you a smaller tax cut while cutting your schools and hospitals and giving $80 billion to big business and the banks.

With Bill Shorten and Labor, middle class Australians will pay less tax. We will deliver proper funding to schools and hospitals. And we won’t handover $80 billion to the top end of town.

Labor’s policy has a budget impact of $5.8 billion over the forward estimates.
