Malcolm Turnbull must ensure Immigration Minister Peter Dutton apologise for his disgraceful comments he made about migrants in Australia.
In Question Time today, I asked Peter Dutton to apologise for saying:
“The reality is Malcolm Fraser did make mistakes in bringing some people in the 1970s”
PETER DUTTON, THE BOLT REPORT, 17, NOVEMBER 2016
Today, Mr Dutton refused to apologise for his shameful remarks.
Enough is enough. Our hardworking migrant communities shouldn’t have to tolerate this kind of ignorant stupidity and he needs to immediately apologise.
It’s time for Malcolm Turnbull to show some leadership and pull his Immigration Minister into line.
These comments aren’t just shameful, in the Prime Minister’s own words, they harm Australia’s national security interests:
“The most effective weapon against the terrorists is an inclusive nation.”
MALCOLM TURNBULL – 16 OCTOBER 2016
Millions of people, from all walks of life and from all corners of the world, have made Australia their home – and our whole country has benefited as a result.
There is no place in this country for hurtful, divisive comments like Mr Dutton’s.
Our hardworking migrant communities deserve better than a Prime Minister who wants to water down protections against hate speech and fails to stand up to this kind of bigotry from his senior Ministers.
