Two years ago today, Tony Abbott infamously promised Australians that under his Government, there would be:

 

“No cuts to education, no cuts to health, no changes to pensions, no change to the GST and no cuts to the ABC or SBS.”

In the two years since then:

 

“No cuts to education” - Tony Abbott has cut $30 billion from schools, cut funding from universities and training and tried to impose $100,000 university degrees.

 

“No cuts to health” -  He has cut $50 billion from hospitals and put in place a GP Tax by stealth on sick Australians.

 

“No changes to pensions” - He was thwarted by Labor in his attempt to reduce the pension of every Australian pensioner, but went ahead and cut $2.4 billion from pensioners anyway.

 

“No change to the GST” -  Tony Abbott now says there is a “powerful” argument for increasing the GST.

 

“No cuts to the ABC or SBS” -  He has cut funding to the ABC and SBS by over half a billion dollars.

 

 

In just 10 seconds, Tony Abbott encapsulated why Australians will never trust him or his Government.

 

After two years of being lied to by this Government, Australians know Tony Abbott’s promises mean nothing.
