WA Senate Election

28 February 2014

STATEMENT

WA Senate Election

If Western Australians want strong representation in the Senate, they should vote Labor at the April 5 election.

With the mining boom slowing  governments should be investing in WA to build more rail, road and energy infrastructure. Not cutting jobs and services like the Liberals want to do.

Western Australians need a strong Senate team that stands up to Federal cuts.

Only Labor will stand up to Tony Abbott’s harsh and short-sighted cuts to health and education.

Already too many Western Australians are feeling the pressure of the cost of living without paying more to visit the GP.

Western Australians are already suffering from Colin Barnett’s cruel cuts to education - $183 million ripped from the education budget this year alone.

And only Labor will fight for good, secure jobs for Western Australians beyond the mining boom.

Western Australians cannot afford a Barnett-style government in Canberra without a strong Senate.

After all, Mr Abbott has said the WA Government is the kind of Government he wants to run in Canberra.

“The Barnett Government has become a model for all the governments that we run or hope to run. That's the kind of government that I wish to run in Canberra.”

Tony Abbott - AAP - 5 March 2013

Western Australians should use this Senate election as an opportunity to send the Liberals a strong message.

Western Australians deserve Senators who will hold the Abbott Government to account and fight cruel cuts to education and health.
