WHERE IS THE DISASTER SUPPORT SOUTH OF THE BRISBANE RIVER?
The ongoing flood emergency has wreaked havoc across almost every council region in South East Queensland and has spread well into New South Wales.
Today, the Morrison-Joyce Government announced it would send Services Australia teams to assist with disaster support in 11 locations across South East Queensland.
This announcement comes in response to Labor’s call to send staff to flood zones to fast track disaster payments.
Strangely, three teams will be sent to locations in the marginal LNP electorate of Longman.
But only one team is being sent anywhere south of the Brisbane River, to a suburb not significantly affected by flood waters.
Not one team is being sent to the Labor held electorates of Griffith, Moreton, Rankin and Oxley, which contain some of the worst affected areas.
There is no doubt that Longman and other LNP held electorates need help. So do other areas.
This is not a time for Scott Morrison to play political games.
Everyone who has been hurt by these devastating floods needs help, no matter who they vote for.
And they need it now.
